Notes:

No recompression or re-encoding took place with the Glastonbury video. The audio, however,
on the original DVB-T feed contained a few anomolies, so I have taken the audio source from
an alternative recording. It is therefore, not the original MP2 feed, but an AC3 feed
recorded via a Standalone DVD Recorder.

The video is glitch-free except for one tiny moment during Won't Get Fooled Again. This
glitch happens when the camera is panning the site and therefore won't really spoil your
viewing enjoyment!

They did not play Cry If You Want towards the end of My Generation nor did they play the
alternate ending to Won't Get Fooled Again. The broadcast was not live and therefore there
is no gap between Won't Get Fooled Again and The Kids Are Alright as at this point the Who
would have left the stage.

Artwork and MD5 Verification Files all included.

Notes:

This DVD was created with the inspiration of ooru, alexander, ricardo & knuckle9 on Long
Live Rock.  Taken from the 2 disc Japanese version of Charlton 74, it has been
re-tracked to the correct playing order whilst retaining the original Pete Townshend
Interview broadcast by the BBC.  Also included as a bonus is an FM audio recording of
the remaining tracks not (as yet) available in video format.

Where necessary the audio between tracks has been mastered to produce a "seemless as
possible" mix.  This is due to the re-tracking of the original dvd's to correct the
playing order.  You may still hear anomolies which could not be masked without
degradation of the audio, notably before Substitute and before See Me Feel Me.

For those interested; tracks 1 to 4 and 9 & 10 were taken from Disc 1 of the Japanese 2
Disc set and tracks 5 to 8 and 11 to 16 were taken from Disc 2.

My Generation Blues was played for the first time at this concert.

The Pete Townshend Interview and an edited version of the concert was first broadcast on
BBC2's 2nd House show.  The interview was conducted by Melvyn Bragg and was recorded on
29th August 1974.  It was first broadcast on 5th October 1974.  It was re-broadcast on
7th June 1975.  2nd House ran from March 1973 to July 1976.  Re-broadcasts were known as
2nd House 2nd Run.  The interviews are slightly different on each broadcast.

An estimated 75000 were in attendance, even though the limit was set to 50000.

Artwork, MD5 Verification File and a Newspaper Article are all included.  Thanks to
Carrie for supplying the Newspaper Article.

Notes:
Before this release, several other bootleg DVDs had compiled 1960s Who footage, with varying degrees of success. It's difficult, however, to imagine a better, more comprehensive one than this two-DVD collection, which assembles almost four hours of live, mimed, promo, interview, and documentary clips from various sources. The image and sound quality are usually as good as, or better than, what's seen or heard on those previous compilations, and most of clips appear in the most complete form known to exist. There are a wealth of riches here, from relatively common (at least to the people who collect this sort of thing) items such as their 1965 Ready Steady Go and Richmond Jazz Festival appearances to some little-seen sequences such as their mimed June 1966 appearance on the Swedish Popside show; a live July 1966 London college gig, including a not-too-audible version of "C.C. Rider"; the Monterey Pop film outtake "Pictures of Lily"; live and interview footage from Helsinki, Finland, in May 1967; and promotional films for Tommy, linked by a few interview segments in which Pete Townshend explains the songs. There's even the U.S. promo film for "Substitute," in which they mimed the amended lyrics (omitting the reference to a black father) in the American 45 version. It doesn't gather every last scrap of 1960s Who footage: there's nothing from their Woodstock appearance, and their famous violent performance of "My Generation" on The Smothers Brothers in 1967 is missing the end bit where Townshend smashes Tommy Smothers' guitar. Some of the portions are obviously lifted from sources that are easily accessible via commercial releases such as The Kids Are Alright, Monterey Pop, and The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus, and no doubt some of the clips could have been presented in better condition if this was an authorized production. The likelihood of such a thorough authorized compilation seems distant, however, leaving the gap for bootlegs such as this to exploit. Despite those very minor shortcomings, it's an amazing document, and totals up to the most convincing evidence ever assembled as to the Who's mesmerizing power as a visual performance act.
